Celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving in the United States is a time to gather with family and friends, share a traditional meal and express gratitude for the good things in life.
Thanksgiving revolves around foods native to the Americas: turkey, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes! AIT has prepared some fun facts about cranberries to introduce this Thanksgiving tradition with Taiwan friends!
✅Taiwan is the #4 market for U.S. fresh cranberries. 2020 looks to be a record year for U.S. cranberries to Taiwan with trade at nearly $4 million before the holidays!
✅Native Americans used the cranberries as early as 1550.
✅Early German settlers started calling it the "crane berry” because of the flower’s resemblance to the head of a crane.
✅Cranberries are grown throughout the northern United States - Wisconsin, Massachusetts, Oregon, New Jersey and Washington.
